Duggers Creek Falls

A humble little waterfall that is easily reached from the Linville Falls Parking lot.

Tucked away in a little cove near the Linville Falls visitor center off the Blue Ridge Parkway, is the humble Dugger’s Creek Falls that cascades only a mere 10 feet.  While it is small compared to its close neighbor Linville Falls, it is a quaint waterfall that shouldn’t be missed if you are visiting Linville Falls as it is only a 3/10’s of a mile walk on a simple loop trail through the beautiful Pisgah National Forest.

The Linville Falls Visitor Center is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile post 316.  There is plenty of parking at this location and it has restroom facilities onsite.  There is plenty of signage on the parkway directing you to the parking area but it won’t reference Dugger’s Creek Falls.  All of the signs will reference Linville Falls.   Dugger’s Creek Falls is about 1 hour from Asheville North Carolina or 2 hours from Charlotte North Carolina.

The trail starts at the stairs to the left of the visitor center and branches off to the left at the first intersection.  It is well marked so you shouldn’t have a problem following the trail.  From here the trail parallels the parking lot before turning into the forest.  This is a real lush area of the forest that is full of foliage.  There are a few trail intersections but everything is marked well making it easy to stay on the right path.  Fairly quickly you reach a wooden bridge crossing Dugger’s Creek with the falls sitting back within the tiny canyon.   The best views of the falls will be from the bridge and after a good amount of rainfall as this tiny waterfall is greatly affected by the amount of recent precipitation.

You can walk down to the creek for a different perspective of the falls as well as for viewing the beautiful Dugger’s Creek.

When you are done enjoying the falls, continue up the stairs past the bridge to continue the loop.  The trail doesn’t go too much further and will eventually end up at the road near the bridge that crosses Dugger’s Creek.  From here it is a short walk back to the parking lot.
